Ambassador Ashot Hovakimian was received by the newly elected Patriarch of the Serbian Orthodox Church Porfirije

02 April, 2021

On April 2, Ambassador Ashot Hovakimian was received in Belgrade by the newly elected Patriarch of the Serbian Orthodox Church Porfirije. During the meeting held in a warm and friendly atmosphere, they talked about the traditional historical and spiritual ties and similarities between the Armenian and Serbian peoples.

Congratulating the Patriarch on his enthronement, Ambassador Hovakimian expressed the hope that the Serb Orthodox Church would provide its solidarity with the people of Artsakh, who were subjected to the aggression, unleashed by Turkey and Azerbaijan, and would condemn the facts of the destruction and falsification of the Armenian cultural heritage.

The Serbian Patriarch expressed his concern and wished peace to the friendly Armenian people, expressing his respect for the Armenian Apostolic Church. He also brought to the Ambassador's attention the cases of the destruction of the Serbian cultural heritage in Kosovo.
